Introducing GUNNAR Computer Eyewear
Welcome to the Digital Generation! We are wired to a media-rich world, full of possibilities! We are constantly visually connected to computers, tablets, phones, and games.
The problem: Digital eye strain. Looking at high-energy visible (HEV) blue light for hours causes a tremendous amount of strain to your eyes. Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) has become a common problem for our generation. According to the Vision Council, nearly 70% of adults experience some form of digital eye strain due to prolonged use of electronic devices. Symptoms of eye strain include headache, dry eye, and blurred vision.
The effects of blue light: Blue light from digital devices reaches deep into the eye, and can cause damage to the retina. In certain wavelengths, it has also been linked to the development of age-related macular degeneration.
The solution: New GUNNAR brand computer eyewear. Gunnar is the only patented computer eyewear recommended by doctors to protect and enhance your vision.
GUNNAR lens design technology includes many factors to protect your eyes and keep your vision clear. For dry eye, the lens design includes a high degree of wrap-around lens curvature to capture humidity, keeping it close to the eye and helping the eye stay hydrated. For trouble with focusing at multiple distances, the lens includes added focusing power that focuses light before it reaches the eye. This allows images to be seen more sharply while the eye muscles relax. This prevents eye fatigue while spending long lengths of time at a computer or mobile device.
GUNNAR lens coatings also provide protection and clarity. Artificial lighting, computer screen reflection, and glare cause visual noise for the eyes. These distractions require additional eye strain to mentally sort between the desired image and the distracting light. This can lead to eye fatigue and headaches. The GUNNAR i-Fi lens coating has anti-reflective properties that reduce glare. This allows the screens to appear crisp and clear. Another benefit to this lens technology is GUNNAR uses front and backside coating. Many lenses have the coating only on the front of the lens, and therefore glare can still appear from behind, on the backside of the lens. In addition, the lens has a protective hard coat that resists scratching and helps maintain the integrity of the lens over time.
Another option with GUNNAR is the amber lens tint. Artificial light from devices and overhead fluorescent lighting contain small bands of high-intensity energy instead of equally balanced, full-spectrum light which the eye prefers. This light is particularly heavy in HEV (high energy visible) light. The GUNNAR IONIK lens tints filter and balance the transmitted light spectrum, reducing high-energy blue light and warming the overall view.
